Comtes LAFON Domaine
Few domaines deserve as high a reputation for their whites as for their reds, but this is the case here! If the MEURSAULT of the domaine are known for being full-bodied and for their remarkable potential for ageing, the Reds of Volnay form, alongside those of the Michel Lafarge Domaine, a type of benchmark.
And this is not because of the recent conversion to biodynamics, but rather the level of care given to each cuvée, from the most modest to the most noble.
The estate recently bought vineyards in Maconnais, producing several cuvées which clearly descend from the great white wines of this historical domaine.
Meursault, Meursault “Clos de la Barre” (Monopoly), Meursault “Désirée”, Puligny Montrachet 1er crus “Champs gains”, Meursault 1er Cru “Gout d’or”, Meursault 1er Cru “Charms”, Meursault 1er Cru “Genevrières”, Meursault 1er Cru “Perrières” and Montrachet are the magnificent whites.
Volnay, Monthelie 1er Cru “The Duresses”, Volnay 1er Cru “Champans”, Volnay 1er Cru “Clos des Chenes”, Volnay 1er Cru “Middle Santenots” are the superb reds.
